Gomi crisis protocol
Gomi is an AI-generated experience: it is not a person or a substitute for clinical or emergency care. This page describes crisis protocol version 2026-08-01.v1 and the support resources available.
Detection and response
The protocol distinguishes explicit high-risk signals from ambiguous language. When it detects an explicit signal, Gomi displays a fixed response with crisis resources instead of generating an AI response. Ambiguous signals are handled with specific safety instructions, and a final filter blocks responses that encourage self-harm.
Privacy and measurement
When a crisis response is triggered, the safety event retains the signal category, region, and protocol version; it does not include the message text. Detector performance is evaluated separately with de-identified data and specialist review.

Transparency and reporting
Gomi retains aggregate counts of crisis-resource referrals and protocol versions. This information supports system evaluation and, when applicable, the annual reports required by California SB 243 beginning July 1, 2027. Those reports do not include identifiers or personal information.
